Spring in Nepal

The spring season sets in March and continues till May. This is the best time to visit Nepal. The days are longer, warm, and pleasant, likewise, the nights are pleasant too. The entire countryside is full of the rhododendron blooms and other flowers. Towards May it starts getting hotter, more humid and rains start.

This is the peak period for tourism. All the trekking sites are suitable for long treks, and wildlife sighting in Chitwan and Bardia National Park is more frequent. Holi, the festival of colours, is celebrated in March, and is thoroughly enjoyed by tourists and locals alike. Buddha Jayanti is a religious function celebrated in May. Ghode Jatra, a horse centred festival, is also celebrated between March and April.

The hotels, safaris, trekking tours and other set ups are expensive and very high in demand, thus, it is better to book in advance. It is advisable to pack summer clothes, a light jacket, trekking gear, and rain gear.

Summer in Nepal

June to August is the summer season in the country. The temperature increases along with the humidity. It rains almost every day, causing trekking trails to turn muddy, along with cases of landslides. Thus, planning a trek at this time would require sturdy rain gear and galoshes.

This is the best time to visit Nepal to experience the lush greenery on the mountain slopes and forests. Although the trekking trails are closed, rivers and waterfalls gush with all their might, which is spectacular. The crowd is very less. Hotels and other set ups offer great deals, at lower prices and easy availability.

Autumn in Nepal

September till November is the second busiest season in Nepal. This is the best time to visit Nepal to see the gold, copper, and red hues of the foliage. It nearly stops raining, except for a stray shower here and then. It is dry and pleasant during the day and night time. While planning a trip here, it’s advisable to pack a thick jacket to ward of the evening chill and the setting in of winter by November.

All the treks become operational, but again, they are highly priced. The hotels, safaris and other setups are equally busy and highly priced, thus, bookings should be made in advance. Tihar a festival where animals are worshipped, is celebrated between October and November.

Winter in Nepal

Winters span from December and finish by February. It is harsh and cold on the mount slopes, and it snows on the heights. The cities at lower levels do not receive snow, yet are very cold and humid. The treks are covered with snow.

This is the best time to visit Nepal to enjoy warm cups of coffee and, snow-peaked mountains. The cities are not crowded and great deals are on offer.
