The worst part about travelling to any new country is without a doubt, the arduous process of applying for a visa. As of July 26, 2018, residents of the UAE can add the beautiful and scenic country of Azerbaijan to the growing list of destinations that provide visas on arrival!
The announcement was made on the Azerbaijan Embassy’s official twitter handle and was confirmed in the form of an official statement via various embassy sources. It comes just in time for the Eid al-Adha holidays and will no doubt be welcome news for would-be tourists to the fun-sized Eurasian nation.
As of July 26, anyone with valid residency in the UAE can obtain a tourist visa for one month, upon arrival at the airports of Azerbaijan

Previously, those who wished to travel to Azerbaijan had to apply for a visa via the country’s various official portals and wait for up to two weeks for it to be processed. This new visa arrangement will ensure that people of virtually all nationalities will be able to receive a visitor visa after arriving in Azerbaijan, as long as they possess a valid UAE residence permit.
Note: Please note that for these UAE residents (all nationalities) both UAE residency and passport should be valid for the next 6 months (from the date of return from Azerbaijan).
The visa itself is valid for up to one month and will allow visitors to explore Azerbaijan’s majestic vistas at their own leisure. The only exceptions to availing a visa on arrival, are any individuals that have recently visited territories of Azerbaijan that are currently occupied by Armenia such as the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. Travelers who wish to stay for longer than 15 days should also ensure that they register with the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan. Most hotels in Azerbaijan will provide this service for a nominal fee.
