Visiting a couple of countries in about a year or so, may seem like a job well done for most of the Neanderthals; how about 180 countries in less than 15 months? Read on to find out how this 27-year-old is making waves across the world.
'Going to every country was for me a personal quest to learn as much as I could about our world, stepping outside my comfort zone and becoming comfortable in the unknown, while also aiming to leave a legacy behind.' – Cassie De Pecol, Washington, Connecticut.
Cassie De Pecol from Washington has a tough mission on her hands. Acting as a Peace Ambassador for International Institute of Peace Through Tourism and Skal International, Cassie, is on her way to become the youngest person in the history to have visited every country in the world.
If that made your jaw drop, let me stun you further! She has already managed to tick off 180 countries in a short span of 15 months from the list.
Documenting her travel experiences on Instagram under the handle ‘expedition_196’, Cassie has spent around £160,000 so far, but much of her trip is funded through sponsors and by obtaining free accommodation in exchange for social media posts.
For those who think it has been a smooth ride, know that, she managed to visit first 25 countries with just US$2000 savings, "living off bread, hitchhiking, sleeping in train stations and working in exchange for food and a bed". She also credits organisations like Couchsurfing.com for free accommodation on fellow traveller's couches.
The Connecticut-born traveller says she spends between two and five days in each place, filming her travels for a documentary, and collecting water samples around the world for Adventurers and Scientists for Conservation.
In addition to traveling the world in record time, Cassie’s aim is to promote peace through sustainable tourism.
Enclosed are few pictures of her adventures from her Instagram handle that speak volumes about the fun she is having, what more can we say – You go girl J !
