Snowfall in Saudi Arabia: Freak sub-zero temperatures turn golden desert sands into majestic whites

Have you ever imagined seeing snow in the middle of a desert? A big NO is the usual prompt reply.

Imagine the shock residents of Shakra and Tabuk in Saudi Arabia must have felt, when they woke up to see the ground carpeted with a thin layer of snow as the temperatures dipped below zero degrees. Tabarjal, a town in the northern region saw temperature dipping down to minus 3 degrees.

A viewer captured the joy of a local ‘skiing‘ on the road.

The highly unusual snowfall comes close on the heels of the heavy rainfall experienced in Fujairah just last week which created a freak waterfall.
