The zip line, which measures a jaw dropping 2.83 km in length, was opened to the public on the 1st of February after months of hype and speculation. It’s also been certified by the Guinness World Records as the world’s longest zip line! The title was handed to Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, by Hoda Khachab, an official adjudicator from Guinness World Records! After receiving the award, the honorable sheikh gave the zip line its maiden voyage; delighting many of his numerous onlookers and admirers!

The zip line itself spans the chasm of the UAE’s highest peak; the 6000-foot tall Jebal Jais. The takeoff platform is located 1,680 meters above sea level and riders can expect to reach speeds of up to 128 km an hour! The total length of the line is said to be the length of 28 eight football pitches combined, and will offer a spectacular view of the desert for those brave enough to keep their eyes open!

Those of you who are understandably concerned about safety, needn’t worry as the running of the zip line has been entrusted to the safe hands of international adventure sport company Toro Verde. Toro Verde also run and manage the previous holder of the World’s Longest Zip Line; Puerto Rico’s ‘Monster’. The team that constructed the zip line undertook extensive feasibility studies, geographical surveys and construction simulations in order to ensure that no harm would come to potential riders of the line!

Participants will be fitted with state-of-the-art zip lining equipment as well as a specialized suit to prepare them for the experience. An entire ride can take an upwards of 3 minutes to complete and the line will be able to accommodate a rider every five minutes! What’s more, it will also allow two people to ride in tandem, giving you a chance to enjoy this experience with a member of your family or significant other if you so choose.

So, what are you waiting for? Head down to Ras Al Khaimah today and embark on an experience like no other!
