Sultan’s Armed Forces Museum: Overview
The Sultan’s Armed Forces Museum is a homage to the long and fruitful military history of Oman. It is ensconced comfortably in the Bait Al Falaj Fort, and is a popular place for family outings, be it locals or tourists. Although the name might lead people into thinking that it is only just a display of military equipment and hardware, it is actually much more than that.
The museum was actually built as a Royal summer home in the year 1845, but is more in use as the headquarters of the country’s armed forces. Towards the year 1988, as per the directions given by King Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, the building was turned into a museum for showcasing the military history and international relations of the country, after extensive renovation.
