EgyptAir is the flag carrier airline of Egypt. The airline is based at Cairo International Airport, its main hub and it’s headquarter is also based in Cairo. The company’s slogan is "Enjoy the Sky" and it’s a member of Star Alliance with its own frequent flyer program – EgyptAir Plus. The airline's logo is Horus, the sky deity from ancient Egyptian mythology. Also described as "winged god of the sun", the logo is depicted as a falcon, or a man with the head of a falcon.
The four subsidiaries of EgyptAir are Air Sinai, EgyptAir Cargo, EgyptAir Express and Smart aviation Company. The focus cities of EgyptAir are Borg El Arab Airport in Alexandria, Hurghada International Airport in Hurghada, Luxor International Airport in Luxor and Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport in Sharm el-Sheikh.
The history of EgyptAir dates back to 1932 when Misr Airlines (Misrair was established on 7 June 1932. Misrair continued in operation from 1949 to 1957. The airline suffered aircraft lost during the Suez crisis, and later changed its name to United Arab Airlines in 1957 and used the name till 1971. The name EgyptAir was opted from 1971 and is still in use. EgyptAir has a fleet size of 65 aircrafts comprising mostly of Airbus A 340-200, Airbus A 330-200, Boeing 777-ER, Boeing 777-LR and Boeing 737-800.
