Asiana Airlines
One of the South Korea’s major airlines, Asiana Airlines, is headquartered inside the Asiana Town building in Seoul. Asiana Airlines started its operation on 17th February 1988 and since then, it has accumulated a fleet strength of 86 aircraft. Asiana Airlines caters close to 108 destinations across various countries around the world and this number is set to grow with every passing day. As a member of Star Alliance, it operates on 14 domestic and 90 international passenger routes, and 27 cargo routes throughout Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. Asiana is also currently an official sponsor of the South Korea national football team and The Presidents Cup, 2015.
In addition to Star Alliance members, Asiana Airlines now also has new codeshare agreements with airlines like: Air China, Air New Zealand, Air Seychelles, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Bangkok Airways, British Airways, and so on.
The Asiana Airlines fleet consists of the aircraft models like Airbus A320-200, Airbus A321-100, Airbus A321-200, and Airbus A330-300.
Asiana Airlines has also been a recipient of many awards and recognition. The company, in 1996, was awarded first in class certification by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO for meeting criteria ISO 14001, and also the "first environmentally friendly company within the service industry" by the Ministry of Environment. Air Transport World (ATW awarded Asiana the "Airline of the Year" award, which is considered to be one of the most honourable awards in the airline industry and later in May 2010, Asiana Airlines was named the best airline in the world by Skytrax, at the 2010 World Airline Awards.
