Beirut is a beautiful, yet unexplored city in Lebanon. It is capital as well as the largest city of the country. It is located on the Mediterranean Coast, and is the most important seaport for Lebanon. The only airport that serves the Beirut and, in fact, the only airport of the country is the Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport, which operates with BEY as its IATA code and OLBA as its ICAO code. It is located a little more than 9 kms away from the city center of Beirut, and used to be referred to as the Beirut International Airport. It is a hub for airlines such as Middle East Airlines, Med Airways, Trans Mediterranean Airways and Wings of Lebanon.
There are three runways at the airport, two of concrete and one of asphalt. There is a single terminal at the airport. The terminal is huge with two wings that are connected by an area known as the Main Terminal. The Main Terminal houses the duty free shopping area, smoking areas, prayer rooms, baggage areas, waiting areas, cafes, restaurants, ATMs, book stalls, car rental kiosks and mobile operator’s posts.
