Phuket is one of the provinces of Thailand, located in the southwestern regions of the country, on the coasts of the Andaman Sea. The province, which is the second smallest province of the country, is home to the Phuket Island, which is the capital of the province, as well as 32 other smaller islets all around the main island. The province covers an area of 576 square kilometres, and is a major tourist attraction.
Phuket Island is famous for its nightlife and pub culture, with tourists arriving in flocks to enjoy a carefree life here. Pub Street or Walking Street as it is better known, is one of the most famous areas near Phuket Beach with full night parties going on here till 6 in the morning. The major attractions of Phuket include the beach off course, Wat Chalong, Tiger Kingdom, Phuket Zoo, Big Buddha Market, Phuket Trickeye Museum, Phuket Aquarium, Big Buddha, Kathu Waterfall, Phuket Bird Park, Phuket Aquapark and Rang Hill. Flights to Phuket are easily available from most parts of the world.
The only international airport of Phuket is the Phuket International Airport, which operates with HKT as its IATA code and VTSP as its ICAO code. It is the third busiest airport of the country, and is capable of handling nearly 15 million passengers on an annual basis, arrivals and departures combined. Needless to say, plenty of flights to Phuket land here on a daily basis.
There are two terminals at the airport, with Terminal being used for international flights and Terminal 2 being used for domestic flights. There is only one runway at the airport, hence flights are occasionally late. Phuket International Airport offers all required passenger amenities such as a library, coffee shops, restaurants, duty free shops, lounges, ATMs, cellular service operators and car rental kiosks.
