Salalah is the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, as well as the second largest city of the country. The city is the political center of the province of Dhofar, and is the largest city of the province. It becomes a major tourist hub during the monsoon season for people from far and wide.

Salalah Airport:

The main international airport that serves the city of Salalah in Oman is the Salalah International Airport, which operates with SLL as its IATA code and OOSA as its ICAO code. It is located nearly 6 kms away from the city center of Salalah, and is one of the busiest airports of the country. In fact, it is the secondary airport of the country. The airport is operated by the government of Oman, and handles Flights to Salalah from various regional destinations as well as some parts of Europe. It is a major hub for airlines such as SalamAir and Oman Air.

The airport opened its doors in the year 1977, and was initially used as a military airfield by the Royal Air Force Salalah. There are two separate runways at the airport and both of them are asphalt based.
