Norway Tour Packages
Easily one of the most beautiful and scenic countries on earth, the natural beauty of Norway is hard to match. The westernmost country of the Scandinavian Peninsula, Norway stretches from the North Sea on its south, into the Arctic Ocean on its north, with the Norwegian Sea running along on its west. Norway shares a 1,619 km long border with Sweden on its east, and has Finland and Russia sharing borders with it on the northeast. It is interesting to note that almost 70% of Norway is uninhabitable, being covered with glaciers, mountains, moors and rivers.
Right from the Norse warriors and Vikings to the invasion by Nazi Germany, Norway’s history has had its share of twist and turns. The Viking warriors were known to settle in places like Iceland, Scotland, and Ireland, till their era came to an end with the advent of Christianity. Between 1200 and 1945, Norway was invaded by Denmark, Sweden and by Germany in 1940, and regained its independence only in 1945, after the defeat of Nazi Germany. Today, Norway is a constitutional monarchy, with King Harald V being the current monarch and Ema Solberg, the current Prime Minister.
As far as religion is concerned, almost 80% of Norwegians belong to the Church of Norway, while the rest are minorities with a mix of Catholicism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Judaism. While Norwegian is the main and official language spoken here, a few other minority languages are also widely spoken, along with English, Swedish and Danish. The climate in Norway is extremely cold during winters. The coasts experience a temperate climate, which gets harsh and colder in the interiors.
Norway is home to some of the most amazing and varied landscapes and scenery, ranging from crystalline fjords to steep gorges, to lush hills, shimmering glaciers and grand mountains, to the quaint, colourful towns and the scenic rivers. Be it hiking, cycling, skiing, snowmobiling, canoeing or cruising, there is no dearth of fun activities on this Scandinavian paradise. Witnessing the northern lights (Aurora Borealis) during winters in Norway is a soul-stirring experience. An epic country with earth-shattering beauty, visiting Norway is truly an experience of a lifetime.
