Getting Around in NEW YORK CITY

Walk - An ideal way to explore the short distances within the city would be by walking on those well-paved sidewalks.

By Bus - With numerous bus services, the bus services are an ideal way to get around the city of New York.

By Subway - This is the cheapest, fastest and best mode of transport to travel to various parts of the city. With a wide range of routes covered, subway is the ideal means to get around New York. They are also frequently available.

By Commuter rail - This is ideally taken if one needs to reach to the suburban areas from the city center and for intra-city transit also.

By Taxi - Yellow taxis are found in Manhattan only, while Green boro taxis run in Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens. Black taxis can be booked over the phone and are easily available.

By Ferry - Ferry services connect Staten Island to Manhattan and are frequently available. There are also ferry services between various points within Manhattan.

Car Rentals - There are many car rental companies that offer services in New York. However, it is best advised not to drive around New York as the traffic is high and parking is a menace.

By Bicycle - Cycling is a fast and easy means to get across the shorter distances within city limits.

How to Reach NEW YORK CITY

By Air

The best way to reach New York is to fly into any of its three main airports. JFK and Newark airports serve numerous airlines and connects to various cities across the world. La Guardia airport is the prime domestic airport connecting New York with the other cities in United States of America. Buses, trains, taxis and shuttle services are easily available to commute from the airports to the city center. 

By Road

Buses are another means of transport to reach New York from other cities. New York is well connected to other cities by interstate highways and hence driving into the city is also a recommended option. 

By Rail

Amtrak, the rail service, has many trains connecting New York to different parts of the country and this is another means to reach New York while travelling from other cities of the United States of America. New York also has a subway train system which connects the city to various other parts of the state. 

By Water

If traveling from Europe, there are regular passenger cruise liners from Hamburg and Southampton to New York.
