Aarhus Tourism

Aarhus is the second largest city of Denmark, located in East Jutland and claims the unofficial status of the capital of Jutland. The city is one of the oldest cities of Denmark with its history dating back to 948 AD. Trading and seafaring flourished in the city in the middle ages and grain exports and industrialization further developed the city. Today, the city has a vibrant cosmopolitan culture due to its large population of youths and universities. The average age of the city’s inhabitants is among the lowest in Europe which coupled with finest restaurants, flourishing cafes, and vibrant pubs makes it one of the best cities in Denmark. Aarhus is also an important center for research and education, and the electronics and metallurgy. The city’s heritages can still be admired thanks to its well preserved historic buildings and cathedrals. Aarhus also has a vibrant sporting scene with many local clubs involved in several professional sporting leagues. Aarhus' cultural festival week known as Aarhus Festuge, draws plenty of visitors in the month of August and September.
