Canada gives an impression of a festive spirit imbibed in clouds, mountains and mist. The first settlers of this cold land were the Aboriginal people. It was in the 15th century that French and British colonies set up their bases here, to be precise, along the Atlantic coast. Friction followed between the parties, resulting in UK capturing a certain area in the 18th century, the same that makes up Canada today. Post several other colony undertakings, Canada was granted independence in majority of the matters. But it was in 1982 that all British connections were done away with.

As far as official languages go, English and French enjoy an equal status in the public, the courts and all federal institutions. As expected almost 60% of the population speak English and about 22% of them speak French. By the way, 67% of the population are Christians, a sizeable 23% of them are non-religious; the rest comprise of people who follow Buddhism, Sikhism, Hinduism and Judaism.

The Canadian cuisine take on various shades in many regions, from traditional French cuisine to the ones in the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, East Asia, South Asia and Central Europe.

The second largest country in terms of land area, Canada has the Artic, Pacific and the Atlantic oceans surrounding it. Winters are particularly harsh in the country, temperatures can dip to below -40 degree Celsius. Summers are pleasant, the temperatures can go up to 25 and 30 degree Celsius here.
