A vibrant, multilingual city dotted with history, with an interesting blend of modernism and architecture, this is what Belgium is all about. Let’s take a brief peek at the best time to visit Belgium.
Good Season for Great Deals
Belgium, like all other European countries, experiences all the four seasons. April till June is considered the best time to visit Belgium. This is the spring season and the land is covered in colourful foliage. The temperature throughout these months is warm and pleasant, ideal to be suited in cool comfortable clothes.
This is the perfect time for people who would want to avoid the peak tourist crowd. Most of the entertainment set-ups offer great deals on food and drinks, and along with lower prices, the hotels have ample accommodation available.
Bruges, Ghent, Wallonia and Ardennes attract people because of their beautiful blooms. Brussels is the seat for The Jazz Festival in May, and the Brussels Film Festival in June is highly recommended.
July and August are the summer seasons and the busiest for the whole country. It is the best time to visit Belgium. The temperatures rise but are not unbearable and can be braved wearing light summery clothes and flip-flops.
Due to the holiday season, mostly all cities are crowded. Hotel prices, along with flight tickets and entertainment set-ups charge very high prices and are unavailable if not booked in advance.
This is when a number of festivals and events take place all over the country. The Ghent Festival in July, the Brussels Summer Festival in August, Tomorrowland Music festival in July, and countless music and art festivals in Bruges and Antwerp.
The Second-Best Season
September and October are considered the second-best time to visit Belgium. The summer heat starts ebbing and the entire country is shrouded in hues of coppers, orange and gold due to the fall foliage. This is the second best weather where summer clothes suffice during the day, and a light jacket is required for the sometimes chilly evenings and mornings.
The tourist crowd is negligible and there are greats deals to clinch offered by hotels, flights, and other set-ups. The slopes of the Ardennes are beautiful to go on, for long treks. The Ghent Film Festival is another event which is quite popular during this time.
The Low Season
November till March is the winter season, which brings in incessant rains and freezing temperatures. Layers of warm clothes and rain gear are a must at this time. Although not frequent, it can snow at times, thereby freezing the water on the canals and converting them into skating rinks.
This is the best time to visit Belgium, especially around Christmas and New Year. Plus, the tourist crowd is minimal and there are low prices offered by all set-ups. The Brussels Christmas Market, the Winter Wonders Festival and the other carnivals held all over the country are worth visiting.
