Cardiff, the eleventh largest city of the United Kingdom, is the capital of Wales and is a growing business and commercial centre. Besides the rugby, there so much more this city beholds, attracting visitors from far and beyond. It is a vibrant, modern city that is becoming popular among tourists owing to its interesting history, infectious architecture, and lively culture. The city has gone through major developments in the past decade and is prominent for being one of the top shopping destinations in the United Kingdom. It is surrounded by five different castles and for this reason, it is known as the ‘City of Castles’.

There are a lot of things to do in Cardiff for tourists. It is a compact green city that is known for hosting various sporting events. The major sporting institutions in Cardiff are Millennium Stadium, SWALEC Stadium and Cardiff City Stadium, and the charm of the city increases when it hosts different sporting games. Cardiff Castle is the major landmark of the city, which is a large and beautiful castle, built by Norman invaders in the late 11th century, on top of a 3rd century Roman Fort. At the heart of the city lies the Bute Park which is basically a collection of numerous parks that stretch continuously from the back of the castle.

The best time to visit Cardiff is during late spring to early autumn as the pleasant weather during this time makes the visit more delightful. During summers, the city hosts massive festivals and events that include a lot of Alfresco dining and drinking, reflective of Cardiff culture. Cardiff shopping experiences include the Cardiff market, St. David’s Shopping Centre, the Cardiff Indoor flea market and more. Cardiff foods are mostly Welsh delicacies that include cheese, Welsh lamb, wines and beer.
