The former residential place of Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Dubai’s past ruler, the Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House is scenically located along the Dubai Creek in the locality of Al Shindagha.

This home-turned-museum was established around 1894 for the Al Maktoum family.

It served as Sheikh Saeed's private residence until his death in 1958. The structure was later turned into a museum that now contains impressive artefacts and images of Dubai’s old town.

Apart from being an architectural marvel, Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House holds an excellent collection of photographs of Dubai during the pre-oil times in the 1940s and '50s.

Look out for the mesmerizing photos of the Creek, the souqs and traditional celebrations.

Other rooms feature collections of coins, stamps and documents dating back as far as 1791, as well as an interesting display on pearl diving.
