Fiji is a stunningly gorgeous island country tucked in the arms of the South Pacific Ocean. Officially known as Republic of Fiji, the nation is nestled in Melanesia. The kingdom snuggles around 332 islands and showcases one of the strongest economies in the region. Most of its income comes from agriculture and tourism.
Thought the Polynesians and Melanesians were the first ones to settle here around 3500 years earlier, these islands were discovered by Europeans only in 19th century. In 1874 many wars broke out among different native groups residing here. In the struggle of seeking peace, a Tribal chief surrendered the Fijian Islands to the British Empire. It gained independence in 1970.
Fiji witnesses a tropical marine climate and the weather is at its best between March and November. It’s a beautiful culmination of lush land patches and crystal clear turquoise waters. Apart from their scenic natural beauty, these islands are known for housing some of the most creatively architected resorts which would give you an enhanced feel of holidaying. The gamut runs from extremely luxurious elite class resorts to low-on-pretence, humble, yet soberly marvellous guest homes.
The largest of Fijian isles, Viti Levu, is adored by tourists for its pristine beaches, orchids with aromas of vanilla and the mesmerizing lilly ponds.
