Giza, the capital of Giza Governate, is the third largest city in Egypt. It is located on the west bank of the River Nile and is a popular tourist destination. History of Giza witnessed many changes, it was occupied by the British during the 18th and 20th century. Earlier it was the capital of Egypt, then to Luxor Al-Giza. All the city contains now is the remains of Memphis, but it is a developing centre of Egypt. It is commonly known as the location of the Giza plateau for its world's famous monuments.
