Enclosed within the high mountains of the Altiplano, La Paz is the administrative capital, while Sucre is the official capital of Bolivia.The La Paz metropolitan area constitutes the cities of Viacha, El Altao and La Paz, making it the most populous urban area in Bolivia. Originally called Nuestra Señora de La Paz (Our Lady of Peace,) it was designed in the year 1549 in a canyon. Laced in historic legends, La Paz has numerous attractions, monuments and buildings designed in colonial architecture, warm and welcoming citizens - La Paz is a tourists’ delight.
