Lucerne Visa and Passport Requirements

To enjoy your holidays in Switzerland, you would need to get few formalities out of your way. Visa is one of them and often, causes major upsets if not handled diligently. 
Switzerland is one of the participating Schengen countries (others are - Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Liechtenstein) that have agreed to allow free movement of their citizens within this area as a single country. A Schengen Visa is issued by the authorities to the travellers who are travelling to and within the Schengen Area. The citizens of countries who do not fall in the list of Schengen countries, however, have to apply for a visa. 
If you are a citizen of non-Schengen countries, regardless of your visa obligation status, you may enter and remain within the Schengen Area without a residence permit for up to 90 days per 180-day period starting from the date of first entry. The citizens of non-Schengen countries can apply for short term visa that typically requires 2 weeks to process. Please be notified that the visa submission cannot be more than 3 months earlier and less than 2 weeks before the planned trip. 
Apart from visa, you must be possessa valid travel document recognized by the Swiss Govt., which have been issued within the last 10 years and should have a validity for at least 3 months after the date on which you plan to leave Switzerland.Before applying for visa make sure your passport should be valid and has at least two blank pages.
