Moshi Tourism

Habari (Hello in Swahili)

Moshi is a municipality in Tanzania which is located on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. This little, sleepy town is the base for exploration of Mount Kilimanjaro, a dormant volcano which is also the highest mountain peak of Africa. The town hosts an annual Kilimanjaro Mountain Marathon which is quickly growing in reputation and many cultural tourism programs are in operation on the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro. There are plenty of hotels, restaurants and mountain climbing and camping equipment stores catering to the needs of the adventure enthusiasts. The local economy is heavily dependent on mountaineers and tourist and the locals act as guides, potters, cooks and cultural arts performers. Moshi is also home to three main cultural tribes - the Chagga, the Maasai and the Pare. Every evening there are plenty of cultural shows highlighting the traditions, customs and tribal arts and culture.
