BEST TIME TO VISIT Oman
Oman experiences a tropical desert climate that is similar to that of Dubai. Summers here are very hot and humid, with temperatures reaching 38°C during the day and dipping to 29 °C at night. Springs and autumns are also considerably warm, with day temperatures in mid-30 degree Celsius and night time temperatures in the early 20s. Winters are pleasant and less humid, with nights around 16°C, and days around 24°C.
Because Oman has a diverse terrain, the climatic conditions are as varied as the geography. But all in all, Oman is known for its beaches, with their white sand, turquoise waters, and year-round warm ocean temperatures. The most popular time to visit Oman is from October to April, when the weather is pleasant and there’s less or no rainfall.
The capital city of Muscat is situated just above the Tropic of Cancer and has sunny, humid weather for most of the year. The ideal time to visit Muscat is during the winter months from November to March. The coolest months are December and January when the nights are cool and the day temperatures remain below 30°C. April to September is the off-season when temperatures can soar very high and the heat gets unbearable. The Muscat Festival, a month-long festival that celebrates Oman’s history and culture is held in January and is a good time to visit.
We recommend you wear lightweight cotton wear whenever you visit Oman, anytime of the year. A warm wrap for cooler winter evenings and mountain excursions is also a good idea. When touring, khaki or beige are more suitable colours to wear than white, as the dry, dusty conditions can discolour clothing.
