Puerto Iguazu Tourism

Hola! (Hello in Spanish)

One of the seven Natural Wonders of the World, the awe-inspiring Iguazu waterfalls are located just about 20 kilometers from Puerto Iguazu. These amazing falls lie split between two South American powerhouses, Argentina and Brazil. Rising from Iguazu river which flows through Brazil and Paraguay, these majestic falls lie in the Iguazu National Park. In the shape of a half-moon and with over 275 falls spread over 3 kilometers; UNESCO declared the Iguazu Falls as “natural heritage to the humanity” in 1984. The waterfall stretches in width for 2.7 kilometers with the height varying between 60 and 82 meters making it bigger than the Niagara Falls. The legend behind the waterfall says that a deity fell in love with a beautiful woman Naipi and wanted to marry her; but Naipi fled with her lover, Taroba. This enraged the deity and hoping that the lovers die, she sliced the river forming in different waterfalls and cursed the lovers to fall in that waterfall for eternity.
