Like other regions of the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah also experiences extremely hot summers that stretch on for most part of the year, with mild, short winters, which is common with desert landscapes. The best time to visit Ras Al Khaimah is during the winter season, from December to February. During the peak months of the summers, such as May and June, the temperature here reaches over 45° C, making spending time outdoors almost impossible. The winters are comparatively pretty cool, and some places also receive snowfall – maybe once in 5 to 7 years, making it pretty rare phenomenon.
Summer Season: The summer season in Ras Al Khaimah lasts from June to August, and it is one of the hottest times of the year. This is definitely not the best time to visit Ras Al Khaimah, thanks to the broiling heat and high levels of humidity. The temperature during this time reaches nearly 49 °C. Expect a lot of sunshine, since the summer months witness nearly 14 hours of incessant sunlight. Sightseeing tours are not a great option to indulge in at this time, owing to the humidity. This is also the season for dust storms, so make sure to plan accordingly.
Tips: If you do find yourself in Ras Al Khaimah during the summer season, try arranging your sightseeing plans towards the evenings, to avoid the heat. If you absolutely have to step out of your hotel, there are quite a few events planned at the malls here during daytime. Plan to visit the Iceland Water Park, for some respite from the heat. Try to book hotels nearby from the coast, so that the heat gets washed off by the cooler sea breeze.
Autumn Season: The autumn season in Ras Al Khaimah lasts from September to November. This is actually a pretty good time to visit Ras Al Khaimah. The temperature starts to decline, making way for the winter season, but the sea water is still quite warm to enjoy swimming and other water sports. November is said to be the best month to visit Ras Al Khaimah.
Tips: Remember that this is one of the busiest tourist seasons for Ras Al Khaimah, so make all bookings in advance. The Ramadan festivities are held here during the autumn season, and although the daylight hours are pretty slack, the evenings are absolutely lit.
Winter Season: The winter season in Ras Al Khaimah lasts from December to February. The temperature witnesses a slight lowering, falling no far below 22 °C. The Awafi Festival is held in December here, and the festivities carry on for three weeks, celebrating social and cultural heritage.
Tips: This is a good time to enjoy water activities, since the sea temperature is perfect, and you can enjoy a dip even without a wet suit. Scuba diving is a popular attraction to indulge in during the winters in Ras Al Khaimah. Rains can be expected, as can be storms, so make sure to be fully prepared. If you are here during the New Year celebrations, you are in for a treat, owing to the fact that Ras Al Khaimah has previously set a Guinness World Record for the largest aerial fireworks!
Spring Season: The spring season in Ras Al Khaimah lasts from March to May, when the rainfall season has just passed and it is quite pleasant. The temperatures starts to rise from end of March, and by May it reaches over 38 °C.
Tips: Although the rainfall season is over, there are a few occasional spells, so make sure to take along waterproof bags and rain covers, when heading out during the day.
