Saint Lucia is located in the East Caribbean Seas and is a part of the Lesser Antilles. The capital city is Castries, a typical Caribbean city filled with vibrant culture, music and plenty of partying. The country is also famous for its annual Jazz music festival. Life in Saint Lucia is all about celebration and the Caribbean charm can be best experienced in this country. Unspoilt beaches, thick rainforests, white beaches and azure waters of Caribbean Sea paints a beautiful picture of a tropical paradise.

Saint Lucia’s history can be traced back to the pre-historic times to Arawaks, a South American tribe believed to be the first settlers before being replaced by the Caribs. European settlers started various colonies in Saint Lucia, following the exploration by Christopher Columbus in the medieval times. The British finally achieved complete domination over the island and the country finally achieved independence in 1979 after enjoying internal autonomy within the West Indies Federation for a while.

The island experiences tropical climate as the months from January to April remain dry while May to August experiences heavy rainfall with severe tropical storms and hurricanes. English is the predominant language along with Creole French. People of African and African-European origin and a small minority of Indo-Caribbean community can be found on the island. Christianity is the pre-dominant religion with Roman Catholic followers being the largest.

Festivals play a key role in attracting tourists to Saint Lucia. The ‘La Rose’ and ‘La Marguerite’ festivals enjoy massive participation from the locals. ‘The Jazz Music Festival’ is held in the month of May in different locations on the island before the grand finale on the Pigeon Island. Numerous beaches and picture perfect sceneries attract large number of visitors throughout the year. The majestic twin peaks of The Pitons, rain forest and a drive-in volcano is a part of the tourist attraction of this country. Saint Lucia certainly offers the best Caribbean experience.
