Sarajevo Tourism

The capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo is located on the Balkan Peninsula of southeastern Europe. A living history museum, the city is filled with churches, mosques, cathedrals and government buildings and cultural, traditional and religious diversity; which is why, it is referred to as the ‘Jerusalem of Europe’. Sarajevo is the only European city to have a Catholic Church, Synagogue, Mosque and Orthodox Church in one common neighborhood of the city. Unfortunately, Sarajevo suffered the longest siege of four years from 1992 to 1996 during the Bosnian war for independence, post which there has been major reconstruction activity. Sarajevo has a village-like atmosphere, yet the bustling city centre, cozy bars and coffeehouses and artisans' workshops are forever welcoming tourists and making them comfortable.
