BEST TIME TO VISIT Serbia

The climate of Serbia is moderately continental and features gradual changes between seasons. The spring and autumn seasons are considered the best time to visit Serbia. Autumn in Serbia is warmer than its spring season. January is the coldest month with the average monthly temperature ranging from 0°C in the country’s flat regions to -6°C in mountainous regions. July is the warmest month and the average monthly temperature ranges from 11°C to 22°C. The rainiest month is June, while February and October experience the least rainfall. The period from November to March usually boasts snow cover. Sometimes, even the months of April and October experience a little snowfall. 

Spring: The spring season, stretching from mid-March to May-end, is considered the most pleasant time to plan a trip to Serbia. The arrival of spring offers relief from the long harsh winters. During these months, the country experiences pleasant weather conditions ideal for sightseeing and exploring. The environment regains its greenery, and garden terraces reopen all across the country. As the spring season approaches its end, many food festivals and other events are organized throughout Serbia. These events include the Night of Museums held every year in May.

Autumn: The heat begins to settle down gradually by the end of September. Besides spring, the autumn season, lasting from September-end to mid-November, is also considered the best time to visit Serbia. The weather conditions are mild, pleasant and entirely suitable for sightseeing. Serbia in Autumn is simply beautiful. The season witnesses a plethora of activities, events and festivals all across the country. 

Summer: Stretching from May-end to September-end, the summer season in Serbia features high temperatures and long sunny days. During the season, the country’s nightlife swings into full action, and a number of festivals and events are organized all across. Vidovdan, Serbia’s National Day, is celebrated enthusiastically on 28th June every year. EXIT Festival, South-eastern Europe’s largest music festival, takes place in mid-July every year. More than 600 renowned artists and musicians visit the country from all over the world to perform in this festival. Famous Belgrade Beer Fest is organized in Mid-August every year, where numerous visitors enjoy chilled beers to find some relief from the sweltering heat. Even the month of September is filled with various interesting events and festivals. 

Winter: Serbia witnesses a long chilly winter season from mid-November to mid-March. Temperatures drop drastically and the country often experiences heavy snowfall. Even though the weather of Serbia is extreme during this season, the snow cover offers an excellent opportunity to those who like to ski. Many amazing ski resorts open their gates with the beginning of the ski season. Various enjoyable festivals and events like Subotica’s Winter Festival, Christmas and New Year celebrations and annual FEST Film Festival take place during this time of the year.
