The topmost Tanzania attraction is the great Serengeti National Park. In the local Masai language serengit means the land of endless plains. It has earned the title of “Seven Natural Wonders of Africa”. The annual Great Migration of animals which takes place in the park every year is the main reason for most visitors to embark on a Tanzania travel trip.

The national park has four parts. The central part is most visited and has the maximum viewing of the Tanzania wildlife throughout the whole year. It has the highest number of wildlife and safari lodges The Southern area has the maximum wildlife viewing from December to March during the calving season in February. The Western Corridor is where the Grumeti River flows. One can witness the highly dramatic and huge flock of animals crossing the river between May or June, depending on the rainfall.

The main attraction of the park is the annual Great Migration which takes place between April to June. During this period more than two lakh animals comprising of wildebeest, zebras, elands, gazelles, etc made the annual circular journey from South of Tanzania to Kenya’s Masai Mara reserves and vice versa. This huge flock attracts an equivalent number of predators like the lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and crocodiles.
