Metros: Tbilisi has a two-line metro system intersecting at the Station Square (Sadguris Moedani I). Buy a Metromani travel card to travel by the Metro (the cards can be bought and re-charged at all stations). For those who speak neither Georgian nor Russian, worry not: Station names are announced in both, English as well as Georgian. The metro system operates from 07:00 hours until midnight.
Buses: Yellow coloured buses provide cheap and easy transport in and around Tbilisi. Each bus displays its route number on the front, and travellers can pay by coins at the machines inside the bus, or use a pre-paid Metromani travel card.
Minibuses: Called marshrutkas by locals, these mini-buses are privately owned. Marshrutkas are also coloured yellow and they operate on established routes. Travellers can either pay by cash or through their Metromani cards.
Taxis: Taxis in Tbilisi are again privately owned, and they don't run on meters. It’s better to negotiate a price beforehand, and insist on paying after reaching your destination.
