Free Things to Do In Zermatt

  • The best way to explore Zermatt is on foot. A walk down the streets of this bustling and busy little town will be surely an enjoyable experience. 
  • Pay a visit to the St Mauritius Church, situated on the main town, dominating the skyline of Zermatt. 
  • A stroll to Hinterdorf, the oldest part of Zermatt, can also be a good experience as you can still find a few of the old wooden houses dating back to the 17th and even 16th century in this locality. 
  • A hike up to Sunnegga can be a pleasant experience. Sunnegga, or ‘sun-trap’ in the local dialect, gives you breathtaking views of the valley and the Matterhorn. 
  • One can visit the lovely little English Church set high on the hill overlooking Zermatt. The heavily timbered building may not be as big or as ornate as the Catholic Church but it has its own charm and the walk up the hill is certainly worth it.
