Shopping In Zurich

Zurich is a haven for shoppers and offers the best of everything – from international luxury brands for fashion, jewellery to world-famous Swiss Chocolates, high-value precision watches to gourmet cheese.

Bahnhofstrasse is one of the most prestigious shopping streets in the world. It is also among the most expensive places to shop. Its extent runs from the main railway station to the lakefront. Here you can find jewelry stores, boutiques, chocolate shops, Swiss watch brands, antiques and much more. Globus and Jelmoli are popular department stores that sell items from well-known brands. The street is reserved for pedestrians and is a great window shopping zone.

Niederdorf is in the old part of Zurich and is especially popular with the younger crowd. It has a great variety of trendy clothes stores and street food options. Pedestrians frequent the area during the day to make way to the shops that line up within the narrow paths of the alleyways. As evening descends, there are street artists performing their routine. Bars and cafes abound the area apart from shops.

Löwenstrasse is a street to the west of Bahnhofstrasse from the main railway station, which is full of lower to mid-range shops as well as Migros, a large department store. Even though the departmental store has opened an online shopping branch, there are millions who buy essential commodities from the store. This is a good place to buy things to take back. Founded in 1925, Migros is also the country’s biggest retail company.
